Role Summary

As an Account Executive at SOLS, you will be an essential part of our finance team, responsible for maintaining financial controls, handling petty cash, and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records. Your role will involve working closely with various departments and assisting in financial activities.

In this role you will:

  • Efficiently oversee petty cash claims and cash in advance requests, ensuring strict adherence to company policies.
  • Maintain meticulous records of petty cash transactions and conduct regular reconciliations for accurate balance tracking.
  • Streamline payment processes, handling disbursements to business partners, government bodies, and others on a consistent weekly basis.
  • Execute daily and weekly bank reconciliations to guarantee alignment between external bank statements and internal records.
  • Verify the validity of invoices from vendors and partners to uphold financial accuracy and accountability.
  • Post daily and weekly transactions into the accounting system, prioritizing accuracy and completeness.
  • Swiftly address and rectify any accounting discrepancies or irregularities to maintain financial integrity.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve outstanding payment issues promptly.
  • Provide support to various departments, addressing inquiries related to accounting matters as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities related to finance and accounting as assigned, showcasing flexibility and commitment to overall financial excellence.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Demonstrate passion, motivation and care in serving low-income communities. Our mission is to enable low-income communities to achieve middle class outcomes, so that they come and stay out of poverty, and you play an important role in achieving that. You need to act with a strong sensitivity towards the reality and needs of the communities we serve.
  • Collaborate with all departments and project teams. It’s important that you’re comfortable to engage, reach out, and communicate with everyone.
  • Adapt to the needs of the community and various programmes we work with. The lives and needs of our participants are complex and changing. To be able to support them, we have to keep up, and constantly adjust and improve our services.
  • Be in the community. You need to know who you serve, so you have to meet them where they are. You will need to travel independently or with the team to Orang Asli, rural, urban communities, and partner locations, and engage with participants in-house.
  • Be enthusiastic and driven to learn and self learn. We serve low-income communities mainly through education, so it is essential that we are learners, seekers, and open to make mistakes and grow from them.
  • Share your knowledge and guide others. We are all happier and grow faster in a place where we respect and help each other.

To be shortlisted for this position, you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting.
  • Proven ability to handle petty cash, account reconciliations, and financial transactions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in accounting processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and time management abilities.
